Here’s a packing list you can use as a guide when packing for your baby! :)
- Clothes/Socks/Shoes: This is an obvious one, but just make sure you bring enough for changes of clothes if there are accidents! We brought 1 set of PJs per night and 1 pair of clothes per day + 2 extra outfits for a 5 day trip! We figured if we ran out of extra clothes she could rewear PJs if she needed to.
- Portable Sound Machine: If your baby sleeps with a sound machine at home, this will be key to a good night’s sleep when you are away! It is also helpful when you may be out and about and they need to take a nap in the stroller because it drowns out noise.
- Travel Stroller (Doona or more affordable option): We were about to leave the stroller at home and I am SO thankful that we brought it! I think if she had been smaller (maybe 3-5 months) we could have gotten away with just the baby carrier and not needed the stroller, but at 9 months a stroller was a NECESSITY! It’s also nice because she could nap in the stroller at restaurants and we went on walks around the resort with the stroller!
- Sun Hat: Linked a waterproof one for the pool!
- Disposable Changing Pads: This may be the best travel mom hack! These are “puppy pads” from Amazon and basically you can use them as disposable changing mats when you’re at airports or in public restrooms! As for changing her diaper on the plane, she thankfully didn’t go #2, so we just quickly changed her wet diaper in our seats! I just laid her on my lap. I didn’t think I could do that at 9 months but it was way easier than getting up and going into the tiny airplane bathroom!
- Nighttime Diapers: This is another hack for longer flights! We only had a 2.5 hour flight so I didn’t bring these, but these may be helpful for you if you’re on a long-haul and want to change their diaper less frequently!
- Teething Crackers: These were LIFESAVERS! They kept Alaina busy and entertained for at least 15-20 min! A must for babies 6 months and up!
- Toys: You only need maybe 1-2 of their favorites. I just brought Sophie the Giraffe and she basically was more happy when I gave her random objects like water bottles, keys, airplane pamphlets, etc.! I also went ahead and downloaded her favorite video on YouTube on my phone for emergencies. We don’t really allow her to have screen time yet unless it’s an emergency when we are in the car or something!
- Medicine: We brought baby Tylenol and a suppository for constipation just in case, but ask your pediatrician what may be right for your baby!
- Sippy Cup: I am so glad I didn’t forget this! We just brought one that was easy to clean!
- Nose Frida: To be honest we didn’t use this, but it’s something that can’t live without if her nose is stopped up or if she has a booger a can’t get!
- Body Wash/Lotion: I put the body wash and lotion in smaller travel sized containers and I’m so glad I brought her own products because the hotel’s products were a little too harsh for her skin!
- Baby Sunscreen: Make sure you bring a baby mineral sunscreen! I used the Sun Bum brand but let me know if you guys have any favorite brands!
- Aquafor: This is pretty much the only diaper rash/healing ointment we use so I just brought a mini size!
- Several Pacifiers: Can never have enough! Make sure you have extras in case they drop them on the floor at the airport!
- Diapers/Wipes: For Alaina at 9 months and for a 5 day trip, we brought 8 diapers per day and 1 full pack of wipes in the luggage and a travel sized wipe pack in the diaper bag! We still had a few extra diapers, but I would rather be safe! If you want to be extra minimal you could also buy your diapers/wipes at your destination and save luggage space, but I’m pretty sure you guys know by now I’m not very minimal! lol!
- Ziplock Bags/Grocery Sacks (for dirty diapers, wet clothes, dirty clothes)
- Extra pair of clothes for the plane
- Lightweight Blanket
- Nursing Cover: I packed this in my diaper bag and definitely used this at the airport, the beach, on the plane, everywhere!
- Manual Pump/Haaka: I personally don’t use my Haaka anymore, so I didn’t need it but if this is something you use frequently don’t forget to pack it!
- Formula/bottles: If you’re formula feeding
- Bibs: Linked the silicone one we use so you can just rinse off and reuse!
- Food Pouches: This was a necessity while traveling through airport/on the plane!
- Baby toothbrush/toothpaste
- Stroller Fan: I used this while Alaina took a nap on the beach and while we were walking with the stroller around the resort!
- Swim Diapers: Swim diapers do not absorb water, but they will prevent accidents if they go #2 while in the pool!
- Nail Clippers: We actually just clipped Alaina’s nails right before we left and didn’t bring, but if you’re going for more than 5 days I would recommend bringing them!
Hope this was helpful! Let me know if I missed anything on this list! :)
With Love,
Leena
